Pot na Brezje - Marija Pomagaj Brezje (marija.si)

Many pilgrims are rediscovering the old ways of pilgrimage and are coming to Mary Help of Christians on foot.

The human traveller sets out on a quest along the consecrated path in order to reach his goal through effort and sacrifice and to encounter Mary, who is the Mother of hope and consolation.

The pilgrimage to Brezje is something important for Slovenians, as many people still walk to Brezje after making their vows. Mary Help of Christians also has an important place in the hearts of other European nations: the Croatians, Austrians, Italians and Hungarians.

Walking to Brezje as a pilgrim remains a significant decision in the life of every pilgrim even today.

Many groups conclude their pilgrimage at Mary Help of Christians. Parish pilgrimages are a beautiful event that can further unite a parish and deepen the spiritual life of both the individual and the community.

“Pilgrimage is the image of our life, and pilgrim shrines are images of the heavenly Jerusalem,” said Blessed John Paul II. On 17 May 1996, the Holy Father was the first pilgrim of the world to make the pilgrimage to Mary Help of Christians at the Shrine of the Assumption.
