Since the beginnings of their faith, Slovenians have devoutly honored the Mother of God, Mary. The first church, built around the year 760 when our ancestors embraced Christianity, was dedicated to Mary.
Brezje became a center for faithful Slovenians after the first miraculous healings in 1863.
Although the pilgrimage route to Mary Help of Christians in Brezje is one of the youngest in the Gorenjska region, it has been our most significant pilgrimage destination for over 150 years.
