The original church was built in 1906 and officially blessed on August 18, 1907. Despite difficult times, the Slovenian parish grew and developed, and by the tenth anniversary of its establishment, it already had 480 families and 2,200 members. In 1915, a school was established, run by the Ursulines. On the 50th anniversary of the parish’s founding, in 1956, the construction of a new church began. The new church, which accommodates 850 people, was consecrated the following year. Since August 10, 2010, the Church of the Assumption of Mary has been adorned with an image of Mary Help of Christians, which was brought from the parish of St. Lawrence in Cleveland. This image had been displayed in that church from its founding in 1901 until June 2010, when the church was closed. The uniqueness of this image is that it is without a crown.
