The Church wants to help the couple to have a happy, strong, and rich marriage. “For love is strong as death, passionate love as fierce as the grave!” (Song of Solomon 8:6).

Pope Francis, in the apostolic exhortation to families “The Joy of Love,” regarding marriage preparation, states: “Both immediate preparation and ongoing accompaniment must lead to the clarity that the engaged couple does not see marriage as the end of a journey, but accepts it as a calling that moves them forward, with a firm and realistic determination to face all trials and difficult moments together. Both pre-marital and marital pastoral care must primarily be a spiritual shepherding of connection, providing points that help love to mature, but also to overcome difficult periods” (AL, 211).
